Jeep India has issued an official recall for its hot seller , the Compass SUV. The recall is for the two wheel drive Compass’ powered by diesel engines manufactured between December 18, 2017, to November 18, 2018.
In a release, FCA India announced, “This action is to correct product variations that may cause certain vehicles to exceed the regulatory threshold for particulate matter emissions.” Jeep also clarified the recall is not a safety recall.
The recall has been issued for updating the software in the powertrain control module. A total of 11,002 models have been affected rather need the update. It is clear that it is only the 2WD diesel models which require this update and not the 4WD petrol or diesel ones.
Respective Jeep India dealers will get in touch with the owners of the affected vehicles to schedule an appointment to address the issue. Jeep says that the issue can be fixed with a software update that takes around 15 minutes.
Jeep India will soon get the Compass Trailhawk which will have an option of the automatic transmission with a diesel engine. Jeep currently sells the Compass, Grand Cherokee and the Wrangler SUVs in India.
