Re-Launch: The Iconic Santro In A New Avatar
Santro has been a popular hatchback car in the small car segment, however, Hyundai discontinued it in 2014 to make way for the Grand i10 which too received a good response from the consumers.
If we hear correctly, the Korean car company is working on the design of a new Santro, set to be launched in India in 2018. It will replace the former Hyundai i10 and is said to be priced around Rs. 4 Lakhs.
A few features that we got a wind of are that it will be powered by an 800 cc or 1.0 litre three-cylinder Kappa petrol engine which is lighter than the 1086 cc engine of the discontinued Santro Xing. However, Kappa engines provide you better fuel economy and overall performance because of the superior design. Other Hyundai cars like Eon, i20, Xcent, etc. are also equipped with varying versions of this engine. It will have a manual transmission with 5-speed gears, besides which the Company is also working on changing the interiors and exterior to give it a more enticing look.
The Hyundai Santro is a Budget Car, in terms of cost as well as maintenance. It is well suited for your daily commute to office or if you go to areas where the lanes are narrow. Easier to navigate with a smaller car as opposed to bigger luxury cars, isn’t it?
